Our “Life at Le Louvre” blog features are for us to share our favourite people, brands and lifestyle icons with our ever-growing fashion audience. Beginning with Miss Wightman and now, Georgina Weir we have always surrounded ourselves with smart, stylish, clever and quirky people that make life more interesting.
Camilla Speer is our super stylish neighbour from The Olsen Hotel and The Art Series Group of Hotels. Our gorgeous friend and colleague is a standout in any crowd for her always immaculate, luscious locks and elegant height. A savvy businesswoman with a naus for refinement and grace. We sat down with Camilla to share her tips for living.
Home is…South Yarra, I love living near the Botanical Gardens and just a hop from the CBD.
What do you do…I work in Marketing and Partnerships for the Art Series Hotel Group. I am based at The Olsen Hotel and have been working for the group for four years.
What can’t you live without…in Melbourne it’s got to be a good trench coat, it can help put a whole outfit together and gets me through the cooler spring/autumn months.
What comes to mind when you think of Le Louvre…I instantly think of glamour and the incredibly unique pieces the boutique store stocks. I love seeing the edit of each new collection and how the most gorgeous pieces are incorporated to suit the local Melbourne style and climate.
One piece of advice you always listen to…in regards to fashion – always take one thing off before leaving the house, I like to have a more relaxed, yet chic, paired back style.
Valentino OR Vivienne Westwood… I may have a slight obsession with the Valentino rock stud shoes. I also love what they did with their Fall/Winter 2015-2016 menswear collection, involving local Melbourne artist, Esther Stewart. The transformation of Esther’s geometric paintings into structural men’s fashion was incredibly innovative. (Valentino Rockstuds arriving at Le Louvre in January, 2016)
Saint Laurent OR Stella McCartney… Saint Laurent has to be one of my favourite brands. I love how it’s evolving with Hedi Slimane as the Creative Director. Their colourful cocktail dresses are always so stunning.
When you’re staying in other hotels, what is the thing you notice first?… I like to take in the sense of arrival, the way the staff great you, the scent in the lobby and how check-in is managed. This is the first impression for guests, so it’s something we think about a lot.
What is your favourite secret holiday spot?…I love getting down to the Mornington Peninsula, there are so many amazing hikes and secret beaches to discover. Further afield my husband and I did a road trip down the coast of California, we came across the most incredible views and beautiful organic cafes around Big Sur and Carmel.
Where is your next destination?…I like to stay local for the warmer part of the year. In the next few months I’ll be heading over to Western Australia, the Barossa Valley and up north to the Whitsundays. I love travelling overseas but it’s easy to forget how beautiful our own country is.
Your top three items in your carry on luggage…I always take all essential items in my carry-on in case my luggage doesn’t arrive, which seems to happen to me quite often! Phone and computer chargers, jewellery, a cocktail dress and a good book are always essential. I recently had a week in Mykonos on my honeymoon with my luggage lost in transit so I had to take holiday shopping to the next level!
